MUAY THAI AT MK BOXING
Learn a powerful striking system that combines punches, kicks, knees and elbows while developing conditioning, coordination, technique and confidence.
Muay Thai has a reputation as one of the world’s most effective striking arts—but you don’t need plans to step into a competitive ring to experience what makes the training so rewarding.
Some members train because they love the technical challenge. Some want a demanding full-body workout. Some want practical striking skills. And some eventually decide they want to compete.
Where you take your training is up to you.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN MUAY THAI TRAINING
Depending on the class and your experience level, you may work on:
- Punching technique
- Kicks
- Knees
- Elbows
- Footwork and movement
- Muay Thai combinations
- Thai pad work
- Partner drills
- Defensive techniques
Thai Pad Training
Working with a coach or partner, you’ll practice combinations of punches, kicks, knees and other techniques while developing timing, accuracy, conditioning and power.
Why Try MUAY THAI?
FULL-BODY CONDITIONING
Muay Thai puts your entire body to work. It challenges strength, endurance and cardiovascular fitness.
POWER & COORDINATION
Learn how balance, timing, movement and technique work together to generate effective strikes.
PRACTICAL STRIKING SKILLS
You’re learning a striking system built around punches, kicks, knees and elbows.
CONFIDENCE
Progress becomes visible and that sense of improvement builds confidence.
MENTAL FOCUS
Combinations, timing, movement and pad work give your mind something to solve while your body works.
MORE THAN A WORKOUT
Learn Something Every Time You Train
Muay Thai rewards consistency.
At first, you may be thinking about where to put your feet. Then you’re learning how to turn your hips into a kick. Later, you’re connecting punches, kicks and knees into combinations, improving your timing, movement and defense.
The better you become, the more there is to learn.
Self-defense
Train Your Body to Move With Purpose
Muay Thai teaches striking mechanics, movement, balance, distance and coordination—skills that can contribute to greater physical awareness and confidence.
For members interested in martial arts beyond fitness, learning how to generate strikes with different parts of the body adds another dimension to training.
But the goal doesn’t have to be fighting. You can train Muay Thai simply because you enjoy learning it.
MUAY THAI OR KICKBOXING?
What’s the Difference?
Both are striking disciplines and both can provide excellent full-body training.
Kickboxing generally combines boxing-style punches with kicking techniques and emphasizes fast combinations, movement and conditioning.
Muay Thai uses punches and kicks along with knees and elbows, creating the “eight limbs” striking system.
Not sure which you’ll enjoy more? Try one. Or try both.
what is Muay Thai? WHY IS MUAY THAI CALLED THE “ART OF EIGHT LIMBS”?
Muay Thai uses eight primary points of contact:
2 FISTS: Punches
2 ELBOWS: Close-range striking
2 KNEES: Powerful short- and mid-range attacks
2 SHINS / LEGS: Kicking techniques
Together, these create a striking system that uses the whole body rather than relying primarily on the hands.
CURIOUS ABOUT THE ART?
Muay Thai’s story stretches back through centuries of Thai martial tradition, legendary fighters, and the transformation of battlefield skills into a modern international sport.
